Southdown

The neighbourhood of Southdown is part of the city of Mississauga, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Southdown is an extraordinarily convenient part of Mississauga for travelling by car. It is very easy to park. However, Southdown is not an especially pleasant part of Mississauga for moving around by public transit. Nonetheless, there is the Clarkson with access to the Lakeshore West Line. Commuters profit from Clarkson Go Station Platform 9 on the 110 | University Express. The neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences. The bicycle is a somewhat poor method of transportation in this area because the cycling network is not very extensive, and there are a fair number of slopes to challenge cyclists. Southdown is also not very suitable for walking as meeting daily needs is sometimes challenging.

Services

In Southdown, parents and their kids will often be able to reach primary schools by walking. In contrast, there are no high schools in this part of Mississauga. As far as food is concerned, some, but not all, property owners in Southdown will live within walking distance of the nearest supermarket. Residents are served by approximately 10 restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

There is a fairly good selection of green spaces in Southdown. There are about 10 parks close by for residents to visit, such as Harding Waterfront Estate and Lakeside Park, making them easy to get to from a lot of locations within the neighbourhood. It is relatively calm in this part of the city, due to the presence of very few pedestrians.

Housing

Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 5% are renters. In this part of Mississauga, around half of dwellings are townhouses, while small apartment buildings and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. A majority of the housing growth in this area took place in the 1960s and 1970s. This part of the city is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
