Transportation

Hornby is an extremely good part of Halton Hills for moving around by car. Nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are very easy to reach from any home in Hornby, and it is very convenient to access a parking spot. However, getting around by transit can be difficult in this neighbourhood due to the service's low frequency. Thankfully, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are usually nearby. Despite the fact that there are a limited number of elevation changes, and biking is more practical in some areas than others, commuting by bicycle is very hard in this part of Halton Hills as the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. Hornby is also not very conducive to walking as most daily needs are sometimes difficult to carry out on foot.

Services

There are only a few primary schools in Hornby and accordingly they can be a long walk away. Moreover, Hornby does not have any high schools. Likewise, daycares are not very numerous and accordingly not always within walking distance. In terms of eating, house buyers in Hornby usually have to turn to a vehicle to do groceries. Nonetheless, getting to the nearest pharmacy and therefore some basic food items is generally convenient. There are also a few options for those who value restaurants and cafes within walking distance.

Character

Hornby is an excellent neighbourhood for those who aren't bothered by some noise, as traffic during rush hour can occasionally be bothersome. Public green spaces aren't well-located, which makes it sometimes challenging to get to them. Still, there are a few parks close by for residents to enjoy.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing almost all buildings in Hornby. Around one third of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the dwellings in Hornby and the rest are rented.
