Dunbarton

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Dunbarton is a neighbourhood within Pickering, Ontario.

Transportation

Dunbarton is an extraordinarily good part of Pickering for moving around by car. Nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are very easy to drive to from any location in this area, and it is very convenient to park. On the other hand, commuting by transit can be difficult in Dunbarton by reason of the infrequent service. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Travelling by foot is not very popular in this area, even though many daily errands can be run on foot. Dunbarton is also not very bicycling-friendly because the topography is not especially flat, and there are very few bike lanes. Thankfully, bicycling is better in some pockets than others.

Services

Daycares and primary schools are easy to reach on foot from most properties for sale in Dunbarton. However, Dunbarton does not have any high schools. When it comes to eating, a supermarket is ordinarily reachable within a reasonably short walk from any location in this area.

Character

The noise levels in Dunbarton are low, as the streets tend to be calm - although there are still several noisier sections, especially closer to Highway 401 or the railway line. Parks are distributed sporadically, making them occasionally difficult to access. Still, there are a few green spaces close by for residents to explore.

Housing

About 30% of homes in Dunbarton were constructed in the 1980s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. The large proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Nearly 90% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. This area is especially good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes.
