Dunbarton

Dunbarton is a neighbourhood within Pickering, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Dunbarton is especially car friendly. Nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are rather easy to reach from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and parking is easy. However, public transit users may have limited options in Dunbarton as a result of the infrequent service. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most properties. It is sometimes difficult for pedestrians to navigate this area since few daily needs can be met without the use of a vehicle. It is also occasionally challenging to commute by bike in Dunbarton as the cycling network is fairly poor, and there are a good number of elevation changes. Nevertheless, certain bicycling-friendly sectors exist.

Services

Parents and their kids will appreciate that wherever their property is situated in Dunbarton, daycares and primary schools are nearby. However, this neighbourhood does not contain any high schools. With respect to food, the closest grocery store in this part of Pickering is generally only a rather short walk away.

Character

Dunbarton offers a slower-paced ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is very quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue near the railway line or Highway 401. Finally, although this neighbourhood is not home to any green spaces, parks are located sporadically in nearby neighbourhoods, which makes them easy to reach.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing the vast majority of dwellings in Dunbarton, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Notably, this area is good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and 10% are rented. This part of the city did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new homes in this neighbourhood was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
