Catchet

The neighbourhood of Catchet is part of the city of Markham, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

The best mode of transportation in Catchet is usually driving. Nearby highways, such as Highway 404, are easy to reach from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and it is convenient to park. However, getting around by transit can be difficult in Catchet as a result of the infrequent service. Nonetheless, residents are served by about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most houses. Catchet is not especially suited for cycling because there are a limited number of bike lanes, and there are a good number of hills. It is also occasionally difficult for people travelling on foot to navigate this area as many daily needs are at times challenging to carry out by walking.

Services

Parents and their children will find that wherever their property is located in Catchet, schools and daycares are nearby. Residents have the choice between public and private schools at both the primary and high school level. With respect to eating, a vehicle is usually needed in Catchet to reach the nearest grocery store. Nevertheless, it is generally a reasonably short distance to the nearest pharmacy, which can provide some staple foods. There are also a few restaurants and coffee shops in this part of Markham.

Character

The character of Catchet is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. It is easy to access parks in the neighbourhood since there are around 10 of them close by for residents to visit. This part of the city is also quiet, as the streets tend to be calm - although that is not the case closer to Highway 404.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing many buildings in Catchet, whereas the remainder are mainly townhouses. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while renters make up the remainder. Around half of properties in this part of the city were built in the 1990s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 2000s.
