Riverview is a neighbourhood in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Riverview. It is very easy to find a parking spot, and it is a short drive to the closest highway from anywhere in this area. However, this part of Halifax is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. Riverview is not very bicycling-friendly since the bicycling network is rather poor, and there are a good number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists. A majority of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also not especially convenient for walking because most daily needs are occasionally difficult to carry out without the use of a vehicle.

Services

Families will welcome that wherever their house is situated in Riverview, secondary schools and daycares are nearby. However, there are no primary schools in this neighbourhood. With regards to eating, the closest grocery store in this part of Halifax is typically only a rather short walk away.

Character

The character of Riverview is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. There are a few green spaces nearby for residents to relax in and they are especially well-situated, which makes it easy to get to them. This part of the municipality is also excellent for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing many dwellings in Riverview, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. This part of the municipality is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about three quarters of the properties in Riverview and one quarter are rented. Roughly one third of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1980s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
