Enfield

Situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Enfield is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Enfield is particularly car friendly. Most real estate listings are a short car ride from the closest highway, and it is very easy to park. A majority of the houses for sale in this part of Halifax are located in areas that are not very conducive to pedestrians as very few common errands can be run without needing a vehicle. The bicycle is a rather poor means of transportation in Enfield as there are very few bike lanes, and the topography is not especially flat.

Services

There are only a limited number of primary schools in this area and thus they can be a rather long stroll away. Additionally, Enfield does not contain any high schools. Moreover, families may find it very hard to reach daycares as pedestrians. Regarding food, house buyers in this community almost always have to turn to a car to do their grocery shopping. There are a few choices for those who value restaurants within a short distance.

Character

The character of Enfield is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. Most areas in Enfield are quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case close to the railway line. Green spaces aren't well-spread out, which makes it rather challenging to get to them. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

Homeowners occupy nearly 95% of the dwellings in Enfield while renters occupy the remainder. Single detached homes and townhouses are the main housing type in this community. About one third of homes in this area were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This community also has a variety of housing size options - although this community is notable for those looking for three bedroom homes.
