Enfield

The community of Enfield is located within the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent means of transportation in Enfield. It is a short drive to the nearest highway from any home in this area, and finding a place to park is generally easy. Walking is not very convenient for residents in this community since many daily needs are impractical to carry out without the use of a car. The bicycle is a quite bad means of transportation in Enfield because there are very few bike lanes, and the area is not particularly flat.

Services

There are only a limited number of primary schools in Enfield and therefore they can be a rather long walk away. Furthermore, this area does not have any high schools. Likewise, parents and their schoolchildren may consider it difficult to access daycares as a pedestrian. In terms of food, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed in this part of the municipality to access the closest supermarket. There are a few options for those who value nearby restaurants.

Character

Enfield is fairly good for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to the railway line. Green spaces aren't well-situated, resulting in them being rather challenging to reach from a large number of locations within this community. Still, there are a few parks close by for residents to discover.

Housing

Nearly 95% of the population of this community own their home and renters make up the remainder. The predominant housing types in this part of Halifax are single detached homes and townhouses. Around one third of properties in this part of the municipality were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
