South Bay

Located within the Greater Saint John metropolitan area, South Bay is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick.

Transportation

South Bay is an extraordinarily good part of Saint John for travelling by car. It is very easy to park. In contrast, South Bay is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and it is especially convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most houses. Cycling is difficult in South Bay because the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive, and bicycle riders are faced with quite a few slopes. This neighbourhood is also not very suitable for walking because almost no daily errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this neighbourhood. Moreover, there are only a very small number of daycares and thus they can be a very long walk away. With respect to eating, buying one's groceries very often necessitates the use of a vehicle in South Bay. There are a few choices for those who care about close by restaurants.

Character

South Bay is especially quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Parks aren't well-spread out, which makes it very hard to get to them.

Housing

The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of South Bay is an important part of its character.
