Pokiok

Part of the Greater Saint John metropolitan area, Pokiok is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick.

Transportation

Cars are a great medium of transportation in this area. Coming across a parking spot is quite easy, and nearby highways are reasonably easy to drive to from anywhere in Pokiok. However, this area is not an especially convenient part of Saint John for getting around by public transit. Thankfully, house owners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most residences. It is easy to commute by bicycle in this part of the city. Travelling on foot is not especially practical for home buyers in Pokiok since few common errands can be run without having to resort to a vehicle.

Services

It is straightforward to access the nearest supermarket by walking in this area. There are also a few choices for those who care about close by restaurants. In terms of education, daycares and primary schools are straightforward to access on foot from anywhere in this neighbourhood. In contrast, Pokiok does not contain any high schools.

Character

Pokiok is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. This area is very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Finally, although this area is not home to any parks, parks are especially well-spread out in nearby neighbourhoods, which makes them easy to access.

Housing

In Pokiok, roughly half of buildings are small apartment buildings, while the remainder are mainly duplexes and single detached homes. This neighbourhood experienced its most significant building boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available properties are from this time period. This area offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Renters occupy around 55% of the units in the neighbourhood and 45% are occupied by owners.
