South Cambie

The neighbourhood of South Cambie can be found in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

House buyers in South Cambie benefit from several alternatives to move around without the need for a car. South Cambie is an extraordinarily pleasant part of Vancouver for pedestrians; running daily errands is very easy by walking, and various businesses are very nearby. Countless people in the area use their bicycle because bike-share stations are never more than a few blocks away, and there are a good number of bike lanes. This part of the city is home to a very good public transit system by reason of plenty of nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Canada Line, and a few nearby bus lines. In contrast, driving is a fairly poor transportation option in this part of Vancouver because it is challenging to park.

Services

Schools and daycares are very easy to get to on foot from most properties for sale in this part of the city. Families have the option of public and private schools at both the primary and high school level. When it comes to eating, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short walk away in this part of Vancouver. Likewise, this area is a good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe.

Character

South Cambie has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Finding energetic streets is easy in this area. Although the nightlife is limited, there is a narrow selection of entertainment venues, and there are lots of people around most of the time. South Cambie is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several louder sections, especially closer to the airport (Vancouver (Children & Women's Health Centre) Heliport). Accessing green spaces, including Douglas Park, is easy from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out.

Housing

In South Cambie, roughly 40% of buildings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings, duplexes, and single detached homes make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of Vancouver also has a good choice of housing sizes; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 60% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 40% are renters. About 45% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1990s.
