Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, South Cambie is a neighbourhood within Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

South Cambie does not require driving as various other modes of transportation are available. South Cambie is very suitable for those who travel by foot; running day-to-day errands is very convenient by walking, and plenty of businesses are quite nearby. Many residents in the area use their bicycle because a bike share station can always be found close by, and this part of the city features a fairly good cycling infrastructure. Thanks to many nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Canada Line, and a few nearby bus lines, commuting by public transit is very convenient in this part of the city. However, driving is a somewhat poor transportation option in South Cambie since parking is not very easy, and almost none of the street network is made for driving.

Services

Schools and daycares are easy to access on foot from most houses for sale in South Cambie. Along with public schools, there are private primary and secondary schools. With regards to food, it is often practical for home buyers in South Cambie to shop for general and specialty groceries by walking. South Cambie is quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to the airport (Vancouver (Children & Women's Health Centre) Heliport). It is easy to reach public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the main housing type, representing roughly 40% of buildings in South Cambie, but large apartment buildings, duplexes, and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. The homes in this area are relatively new, since about 45% of its dwellings were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1990s. This neighbourhood also has a good variety of unit sizes - it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 60% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 40% are rented.
