Located within the Greater Nanaimo metropolitan area, Northfield is a neighbourhood in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent medium of transportation in Northfield. It is very convenient to park, and nearby highways are quite easy to drive to from any home in this area. In contrast, public transit riders may experience few choices in this part of the city due to the low service level. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Northfield, even though many daily errands can be run on foot.

Services

It is easy to reach the nearest supermarket on foot in Northfield. Residents benefit from around 20 restaurants and cafes as well. With respect to education, families will find that wherever their property is situated in this area, daycares and primary schools are close by. However, there are no high schools in Northfield.

Character

The character of Northfield is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. Green spaces, like Beban Park and Bowen Park, are very well-distributed and there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to enjoy, making them easy to access. This neighbourhood is also reasonably quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several louder areas, especially near the railway line.
