Walking is moderately practical for house buyers in this neighbourhood; running common errands is easy without needing to use a vehicle, and many businesses are fairly close by. On the other hand, travelling by bicycle is sometimes difficult in Town Centre since cyclists are faced with a significant amount of hills, and the bicycling network is not especially comprehensive. The public transit infrastructure in this neighbourhood is somewhat poor. Nonetheless, the nearest train station, including the Port Haney Station Eastbound and Port Haney Station Westbound on the West Coast Express, is ordinarily within walking distance from the majority of residences in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is connected by about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties. However, driving is a fairly good medium of transportation in this neighbourhood. Nearby highways are easy to reach from anywhere in Town Centre, and it is convenient to park.

The nearest supermarket in this part of the city is generally only a very short distance away. Furthermore, there is often a restaurant or cafe in close proximity, for example along 224 Street. Regarding education, it is a short trip to access daycares and schools from most homes for sale in this area. At the primary level, both public and private schools can be found.

People who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Town Centre. Parks are especially well-situated and there are around 10 of them nearby for residents to visit, making it easy to reach them. This area is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around the railway line.

Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing the majority of buildings in Town Centre, whereas the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and single detached homes. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes. Roughly 55% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 45% are renters. Roughly one third of properties in this part of Maple Ridge were constructed following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
