The neighbourhood of Cottonwood is part of the city of Maple Ridge, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great medium of transportation in Cottonwood. The majority of homes for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the nearest highway, and coming across a parking spot is generally easy. However, Cottonwood is not an especially pleasant part of Maple Ridge for travelling by public transit. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are usually nearby. Walking is not very feasible for residents in this part of the city as few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. Bicycling is also difficult in Cottonwood since riding is made strenuous by the typically hilly topography, and the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive.

Services

Getting to the closest supermarket on foot is an option for some, but not all, property owners in Cottonwood. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well. In terms of education, schools and daycares are convenient to get to on foot from most houses for sale in Cottonwood.

Character

Cottonwood is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. The noise levels in this area are low, as the streets are generally quite tranquil. Finally, it is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood, since there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to visit, including Kanaka Creek.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing most buildings in Cottonwood, but duplexes and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of Maple Ridge. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the units in the neighbourhood whereas the remainder are rented. About 40% of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1990s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 2000s.
