Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Capilano is a neighbourhood within District of North Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Active people will welcome the reasonably pedestrian-friendly character of this area; most daily needs are convenient to meet without having to use a vehicle. However, travelling by bicycle is challenging in this neighbourhood since the cycling network is not particularly extensive, and riding is made arduous by the often sloping area. Public transit users may find limited choices in Capilano as a result of the low service level. Nonetheless, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. In contrast, cars are a great transportation option in Capilano. Most real estate listings are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is very easy to access a place to park.

Services

Families will welcome the proximity to daycares and primary schools, which are within walking distance from most homes for sale in Capilano. However, Capilano does not have any high schools. With regards to food, a supermarket is typically reachable within a rather short walk from anywhere in this area. A limited number of restaurants are available in Capilano as well.

Character

Capilano is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. This part of the municipality is quiet overall, as the streets are usually reasonably peaceful - although that is not the case closer to Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, it is very easy to access green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to relax in.

Housing

In Capilano, most buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining properties are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. Around 45% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 2000s. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 85% of the properties in Capilano whereas renters occupy the remainder.
