Valley North

Part of the Greater Chilliwack metropolitan area, Valley North is a community within Chilliwack, British Columbia.

Transportation

This community is an extraordinarily convenient part of Chilliwack for moving around by car. It is a reasonably short drive to the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from anywhere in this area, and it is very easy to park. On the other hand, this community is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, the community is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses. Commuting by bicycle is convenient in this community. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of Chilliwack are located in areas that are not very suitable for people who like to travel by foot because few daily errands can be run without a vehicle.

Services

Primary schools are convenient to access without a car from any location in Valley North. In contrast, there are only a few high schools and therefore they can be a long distance away. Apart from public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. When it comes to food, reaching the closest grocery store by foot is possible for some, but not all, property owners in this community. A limited number of restaurants are available in Valley North as well.

Character

Valley North offers a slower-paced atmosphere. Valley North is very quiet, as the streets tend to be very calm - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially closer to Trans-Canada Highway or one of the railway lines. Green spaces aren't well-situated, making it very hard to access them.

Housing

Homeowners occupy around 80% of the properties in the community and 20% are occupied by renters. Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in this part of the city. Around 30% of properties in this part of Chilliwack were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
