Valley North

Part of the Greater Chilliwack metropolitan area, Valley North is a community within Chilliwack, British Columbia.

Transportation

Commuting by car is very easy in this community. It is very convenient to find a parking spot. In contrast, the public transit network in Valley North is quite bad. Thankfully, residents are served by a few bus lines, and most properties are close to a bus stop. This community is not particularly bike-friendly since the terrain is not particularly flat, and Valley North is home to a fairly poor bicycling infrastructure. Nonetheless, a few pleasant sectors for cycling exist. Walking is also not very feasible for house buyers in Valley North since few common errands can be run on foot.

Services

Parents and their kids will find that wherever their home is situated in this part of Chilliwack, primary schools are nearby. In contrast, parents may consider it difficult for their children to reach high schools on foot. Along with public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. Regarding food, accessing the closest supermarket by walking is feasible for some, but not all, house buyers in this part of the city. There are also a few options for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity.

Character

Valley North is good for those who enjoy a quiet atmosphere, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several noisier areas, especially around Trans-Canada Highway or one of the railway lines. Public green spaces aren't well-spread out, which makes them very hard to reach from a large number of locations in the community.

Housing

The substantial percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Valley North is an important part of its character. This community is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 80% of the units in the community are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. About 30% of homes in this part of the city were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
