West Central Valley

West Central Valley is a neighbourhood within Burnaby, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is reasonably easy to get around in West Central Valley. Property owners can rely on public transit to navigate this area by reason of a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations on the Millennium Line, and about 10 nearby bus lines. Many of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also quite well-suited for those who travel by foot; running daily errands is convenient, and a variety of businesses are quite nearby. West Central Valley is bike-friendly as the cycling network is reasonably well-developed.

Services

It is straightforward to get to the nearest supermarket by walking in this part of the city. Furthermore, West Central Valley is a good place in which to eat out or go to a cafe. Concerning education, in this part of the city, parents and their schoolchildren will generally be able to reach schools and daycares by walking.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in West Central Valley, as well as some areas with a vibrant feel. There are a few parks nearby for residents to enjoy, which makes it very easy to reach them from most locations within the neighbourhood. A large number of sections of this neighbourhood are very serene and quiet, but some other parts can be noisy, especially around Trans-Canada Highway, Grandview Offramp Highway or one of the railway lines.

Housing

The large percentage of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of West Central Valley is an important part of its character. There is a higher proportion of two bedroom homes in this neighbourhood. Around 60% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. The homes in this part of Burnaby are very modern, since many of its dwellings were built after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built 1960.
