Transportation

Driving is usually the favoured way to navigate Aberdeen. It is very easy to access a parking spot. On the other hand, residents using public transit may find limited choices in Aberdeen by reason of the infrequent service. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally very close by. Aberdeen is not very suited for biking since the cycling infrastructure is rather poor, and there are a good number of elevation changes. It is also impractical for people walking to navigate Aberdeen as running daily errands is challenging without the need to get in a car.

Services

Home buyers in Aberdeen almost always have to rely on a vehicle to do their groceries. Nonetheless, pharmacies are generally convenient to get to as a pedestrian and sell some basic food items. With regards to education, there are only a limited number of primary schools in Aberdeen and consequently they can be a long trip away. In addition, Aberdeen does not contain any high schools. Likewise, families may find it very hard to reach daycares without a car.

Character

Aberdeen is a wonderful neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. Most areas in this part of the city are very quiet, as the streets tend to be very peaceful near Trans-Canada Highway or the airport (Abbotsford International Airport). Finally, it is easy to access parks from a lot of locations within the neighbourhood, since there are a few of them close by for residents to discover, like Hogan Family Nature Park and Regional.

Roughly 80% of dwellings are single detached homes, making it easy to find detached homes in Aberdeen, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About 40% of homes in this area were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the city also has quite a good choice of housing sizes - there is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this neighbourhood. Homeowners occupy around three quarters of the properties in the neighbourhood while the remainder are rented.
