Transportation

The best mode of transportation in Silverado is very often a car. It is a rather short drive to the nearest highway from any location in this part of Calgary, and it is very easy to find a parking spot. On the other hand, residents using public transit may experience few options in this neighbourhood due to the low service level. Thankfully, homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally very close. It is challenging for pedestrians to navigate this area as very few day-to-day errands can be run without needing to use a car. Silverado is also not especially amenable to biking since the terrain is not particularly flat. Nevertheless, there are a fair number of bike lanes.

Services

In this neighbourhood, parents and their kids will usually be able to access both primary and secondary schools on foot. On the other hand, there are only a very small number of daycares and consequently they can be a very long walk away. As far as eating is concerned, getting to the closest supermarket on foot is practical for some, but not all, home buyers in Silverado. There are also a few options for those who care about close by restaurants and cafes.

Character

Silverado is a very good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm atmosphere. This part of the city is very quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. Finally, green spaces are especially well-distributed and there are a few of them nearby for residents to unwind in, resulting in them being easy to get to from the majority of locations in Silverado.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Silverado is an important part of its character. Roughly 190% of properties in this part of Calgary were built following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed 1990. This neighbourhood also has quite a good selection of unit sizes - however this neighbourhood is especially good for those looking for three bedroom homes. Roughly 175% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder.
