Silverado

The neighbourhood of Silverado can be found in the city of Calgary, Alberta, which is located in the Greater Calgary metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is usually the best approach to move around in Silverado. It is a rather short drive to the closest highway from anywhere in Silverado, and it is especially convenient to find a parking spot. However, the public transit service in this part of the city is not very frequent. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most properties. Although Silverado boasts a fairly good bicycling infrastructure, biking is sometimes challenging in this part of Calgary because the topography is not particularly flat. Silverado is also not very convenient for walking since very few day-to-day needs can be met without having to use a car.

Services

Accessing the closest supermarket by walking is an option for some, but not all, home buyers in Silverado. Residents benefit from a few restaurants and coffee shops as well. As far as education is concerned, in this part of the city, families will usually be able to reach both primary and secondary schools by walking. In contrast, daycares are not particularly abundant and thus tend to require an extended walk to get to.

Character

Silverado is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. There are a few public green spaces close by for residents to relax in and they are especially well-situated, making them easy to access. This neighbourhood is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

Silverado experienced its largest building boom following the year 2000, so most of the available housing is from this time period. The housing stock of this area is composed primarily of single detached homes and townhouses. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the units in the neighbourhood and 10% are occupied by renters. This neighbourhood also has a variety of housing sizes - there is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this part of the city.
