Val-Bélair

Part of the Greater Québec City metropolitan area, Val-Bélair is a neighbourhood within Québec, Quebec.

Transportation

The car is usually the preferred transportation option in Val-Bélair. It is especially convenient to find a place to park, and most properties for sale are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute 573. On the other hand, Val-Bélair is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there are around 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far from most homes. Val-Bélair is not very suitable for those who travel by foot because running common errands is difficult by walking. Despite the fact that there are a good number of bike lanes, and a few pleasant sectors for cycling exist, the bicycle is a somewhat poor means of transportation in this part of Québec as bike riders are faced with quite a few hills.

Services

Parents and their children will find that wherever their property is situated in Val-Bélair, daycares are nearby. In contrast, primary schools and high schools are not very plentiful in this part of the city, and accordingly may be a long walk away. In terms of food, some, but not all, house buyers in Val-Bélair will live within walking distance of the closest grocery store. Residents are served by approximately 20 restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

Val-Bélair is quiet, as the streets are tranquil - however noise can be bothersome closer to Autoroute 573 or Autoroute Henri-IV. It is occasionally challenging to get to parks within the neighbourhood since they aren't well-distributed. Still, there are about 20 green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

In Val-Bélair, most dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the houses are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. This part of Québec is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and the rest are rented. Around 40% of homes in this neighbourhood were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s.
