L'Aéroport

The neighbourhood of L'Aéroport can be found in the city of Québec, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Québec City metropolitan area.

Transportation

L'Aéroport is very car friendly. It is very easy to find a place to park, and the majority of properties for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc. In contrast, the transit infrastructure in this part of Québec is fairly poor. Thankfully, house owners are served by approximately 20 bus lines, and bus stops are generally around the corner. L'Aéroport is not very conducive to those who like to travel by foot because few common errands can be run without a vehicle. It is also at times challenging to commute by bike in L'Aéroport because the cycling infrastructure is somewhat poor. Nevertheless, a few bicycling-friendly sectors exist, and there are a limited number of slopes.

Services

In L'Aéroport, parents and their kids will typically be able to get to primary schools and daycares on foot. On the other hand, high schools are not very numerous and consequently not always within walking distance. In terms of eating, a portion of property owners in L'Aéroport may be able to access the closest supermarket as pedestrians, while others will have to rely on another means of transportation. A limited selection of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well.

Character

L'Aéroport offers a slower-paced ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is reasonably quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - however noise can be bothersome close to the airport (Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport), one of the railway lines, Autoroute Henri-IV or Autoroute Duplessis. Lastly, it is easy to get to parks from most locations in the neighbourhood, since there are about 20 of them nearby for residents to discover, like Base de Plein Air de Sainte-Foy.

Housing

About one third of properties in L'Aéroport were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing many dwellings in this area, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. Roughly 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
