Situated within the Greater Québec City metropolitan area, Laurentides is a neighbourhood within Québec, Quebec.

Transportation

Commuting by car is very easy in Laurentides. It is convenient to find a parking spot. On the other hand, the public transit service in Laurentides is not very frequent. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by approximately 20 bus lines, and bus stops are generally very close by. Bicycling is sometimes challenging in Laurentides since riding is made arduous by the typically steep topography, and the cycling network is fairly poor. This area is also not very conducive to pedestrians as very few common errands can be run without a vehicle.

Services

Shopping for one's groceries very often requires the use of a vehicle in Laurentides. Nonetheless, it is generally a reasonably short trip to the closest pharmacy, which can provide some basic food items. There are also a few restaurants in this area. Regarding education, parents and their children will appreciate that wherever their home is located in this neighbourhood, primary schools are nearby. However, there are no high schools in this area.

Laurentides is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed environment. This area is wonderful for those who like quiet surroundings, as the streets tend to be very calm. Finally, many locations in the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to parks, such as Parc Cambert and Centre de Plein Air de Beauport, since there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to enjoy and reaching the closest park from the majority of homes is very easy.

Housing

In Laurentides, many buildings are single detached homes, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly townhouses. Around 30% of properties in this part of Québec were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented.
