Fairview

Fairview is a neighbourhood in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, which is in the province of Quebec, Canada.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent transportation option in Fairview. It is especially convenient to come across a place to park, and the majority of houses for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc. However, commuting by transit can be sometimes difficult in this part of Pointe-Claire as a result of the low service level. Nevertheless, house owners are served by approximately 20 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally just around the corner. This part of the city is not very bicycling-friendly as the cycling network is not very well-developed. Thankfully, the terrain is reasonably flat, and a few bike-friendly sectors exist. There are also relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this part of the city, although running daily errands is easy.

Services

The nearest supermarket in Fairview is generally only a rather short walk away. Additionally, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, for example on Boulevard des Sources, and a limited number of cafes is available as well. It is also a rather short walk to a good variety of clothing stores. Concerning education, families will welcome that no matter where their house is located in Fairview, daycares are nearby. In contrast, there are only a limited number of high schools in Fairview and therefore they can be an extended walk away. Additionally, Fairview does not contain any primary schools.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Fairview. More specifically, parks are especially well-situated and there are around 20 of them close by for residents to explore, making them easy to access. At the same time, a lot of streets have fairly bad tree coverage. Lastly, due to the presence of few pedestrians, this part of the city is relatively quiet, although there can be more noise for those who are near the railway line or Autoroute Félix-Leclerc.

Housing

About three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters. In this neighbourhood, about half of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. About 45% of properties in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s.
