Transportation

Travelling by car is especially convenient in Saraguay. It is very easy to park, and it is a reasonably short drive to the closest highway, such as Autoroute Chomedey, from any location in this part of the city. On the other hand, Saraguay is not an especially convenient part of Montréal for moving around by public transit. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. Travelling on foot is not very feasible for residents in Saraguay as running daily errands is at times difficult without using a vehicle. Biking is also sometimes challenging in this part of Montréal since the cycling network is somewhat poor, and there are a good number of hills.

Services

Shopping for one's groceries typically necessitates the use of a car in Saraguay. When it comes to education, families will find that no matter where their home is situated in this neighbourhood, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. In contrast, there are only a limited number of daycares and consequently they can be a long walk away.

Character

Saraguay offers a calm ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. The greenery in this area is prominent as there are numerous tree-lined streets. There are a few public green spaces close by for residents to discover, such as Parc-Nature du Bois-de-Liesse and Parc-Nature du Bois-de-Saraguay, making them very easy to reach. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however noise can be an issue around Autoroute Chomedey or one of the railway lines.

Housing

In Saraguay, the overwhelming majority of dwellings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This part of Montréal is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 95% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and 5% are rented. About 30% of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed between 1980 and 1990, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
