Transportation

Travelling by car is very convenient in Halpern. The majority of homes for sale are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc, and it is very convenient to access a parking spot. In contrast, the public transit network in this neighbourhood is somewhat poor. Nonetheless, residents have access to a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close. Although cyclists do not encounter significant elevation changes, and a few pleasant pockets for cycling exist, Halpern is not particularly appropriate for bicycling since there are few bike lanes. Most homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for walking as running daily errands is challenging by walking.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required in Halpern to access the nearest supermarket. On the other hand, it is convenient to reach the closest cafe on foot, and there are a few options for those who care about restaurants within walking distance. Regarding education, families will find that no matter where their property is situated in Halpern, daycares are nearby. However, this part of Montréal does not contain any primary schools or high schools.

Character

There is a good selection of green spaces in Halpern. More specifically, although the neighbourhood does not contain any public green spaces, parks are very well-situated in nearby neighbourhoods, resulting in them being easy to access from many locations in the neighbourhood. At the same time, most streets have quite bad tree coverage. This part of Montréal is an excellent neighbourhood for those who don't mind some noise, as traffic during rush hour can occasionally be loud.

Housing

Around one third of properties in Halpern were constructed following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 40% of dwellings in this neighbourhood, and the rest are mainly townhouses. Nearly 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and renters occupy the remainder.
