Fatima

The neighbourhood of Fatima is part of the city of Longueuil, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

The best transportation option in Fatima is very often a car. It is very convenient to access a place to park, and the majority of houses for sale are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Transcanadienne. In contrast, Fatima is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, there are approximately 10 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually very close. Most homes for sale in this area are located in areas that are not very conducive to those who travel by foot as running common errands is sometimes difficult by walking. Despite the fact that Fatima boasts a fairly good bicycling infrastructure, and biking is more feasible in certain sectors than others, this neighbourhood is also not particularly appropriate for cycling because the topography is not especially flat.

Services

Accessing the closest supermarket by walking is possible for some, but not all, home buyers in Fatima. There are a few choices for those who appreciate restaurants within walking distance. With respect to education, daycares are convenient to access on foot from most properties for sale in Fatima. However, there are only a limited number of primary schools in Fatima and accordingly they can be an extended walk away. Moreover, this neighbourhood does not contain any high schools.

Character

A highlight of Fatima is its very good selection of green spaces. More specifically, there are about 20 green spaces nearby for residents to relax in, including Îles de Boucherville, making them very easy to access. Despite the abundance of parks, there are few tree-lined streets. Lastly, as there are very few pedestrians, this neighbourhood is relatively calm.

Small apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing most buildings in Fatima, while the rest are mainly single detached homes. Roughly one third of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1980s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the city is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Renters occupy about 55% of the properties in the neighbourhood whereas the remainder are occupied by owners.
