Woburn

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Woburn is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

Woburn enables house buyers to travel using various modes of transportation. This neighbourhood benefits from a very good public transit system thanks to McCowan Station on the Scarborough Line, and around 20 nearby bus lines. Woburn will also draw physically active people because it is quite convenient for those who travel by foot; most day-to-day needs are easy to meet without having to resort to a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Even though some bike-friendly areas exist, the bicycle is a sometimes poor method of transportation in Woburn because riding is made arduous by the typically steep topography, and the bicycling network is not especially extensive.

Services

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a reasonably short walk away in Woburn. Moreover, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a fair number of options, and there are also a few cafes in this part of the city. As far as education is concerned, families will appreciate the proximity to daycares and schools, which are within walking distance from the majority of homes for sale in Woburn.

Character

Woburn is a good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. Greenery is quite present in this part of the city as the tree canopy coverage for numerous streets is fairly good. There are approximately 20 parks close by for residents to check out, including Hague Park and East Highland Creek Watercourse, and they are very well-situated, making it very easy to access them. The noise levels in this part of Toronto are also quite low, as the streets are generally peaceful - although there are still several noisier sections, especially close to Highway 401.

Housing

In Woburn, the majority of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while single detached homes make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. About one third of homes in this neighbourhood were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1990s.
