Transportation

This neighbourhood provides home buyers with the choice between a variety of methods of transportation. Owing to a few nearby bus lines, commuting by public transit is convenient in The Elms. The Elms will also appeal to home buyers who value residing in a compact community as it is reasonably suitable for pedestrians; many daily needs are easy to carry out without the use of a vehicle. The Elms is moderately appropriate for bicycling.

Services

Schools and daycares are very easy to get to by foot from most homes for sale in The Elms. At the elementary level, both public and private schools can be found. When it comes to food, it is very easy to access the closest grocery store on foot from most properties for sale in The Elms. Furthermore, this neighbourhood is a good place in which to eat out, and residents benefit from a few cafes as well.

Character

The Elms offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time in green spaces. Greenery is quite prominent in this area as numerous streets have fairly good tree coverage. Most areas in this neighbourhood are reasonably quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder areas, especially near Highway 401.

Housing

About half of properties in The Elms were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. Roughly 45% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in this neighbourhood, and the remainder are mainly single detached homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
