Transportation

This neighbourhood enables home buyers to travel using several alternative modes of transportation. Tam O'Shanter benefits from reasonably good transit infrastructure. In particular, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are typically very close by. This neighbourhood is also a fairly convenient part of Toronto for pedestrians; most daily needs are easy to meet without a vehicle, and a variety of businesses are moderately close at hand. Bicycling is convenient in Tam O'Shanter.

Services

Daycares and schools are very easy to access on foot from most properties for sale in Tam O'Shanter. Residents benefit from public and private schools at both the elementary and secondary school level. With respect to food, the closest grocery store in this part of the city is generally only a short stroll away. In addition, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and there are also a few cafes in Tam O'Shanter.

Character

The character of Tam O'Shanter is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This area features a fair amount of greenery as many tree-lined streets are around. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to discover, such as Tam O'Shanter Golf Course and Ron Watson Park, and they are very well-situated, making it easy to access them from most locations in this part of Toronto. Most areas in this neighbourhood are reasonably quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case close to the railway line or Highway 401.

Housing

In Tam O'Shanter, the majority of buildings are large apartment buildings, and the rest are mainly single detached homes. This neighbourhood also has a good choice of housing size options; homes range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. There are equal parts owners and renters living in this part of the city. Roughly 40% of properties in this area were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
