Transportation

Travelling by public transit is convenient in this area as a result of around 10 nearby bus lines. On the other hand, this area is not especially amenable to bicycling as cyclists encounter quite a few hills, and the cycling network is rather poor. Nevertheless, cycling is more feasible in certain sectors than others. This part of the city is not particularly conducive to walking since most day-to-day needs are at times challenging to carry out without needing to resort to a vehicle. However, Dean Park is very car friendly. It is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 2a, from any home in this part of the city, and accessing a place to park is quite easy.

Services

Families will welcome that wherever their home is situated in this area, primary schools and daycares are nearby. On the other hand, there are only a few high schools and consequently they can be an extended walk away. At the primary level, both public and private schools can be found. When it comes to food, a portion of property owners in this area may be able to travel to the closest supermarket on foot, while others will need a vehicle. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops are available as well.

Character

Dean Park is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm atmosphere. This area is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier areas, especially near Highway 401 or Highway 2a. Finally, this neighbourhood also features a small amount of greenery; more specifically, residents will find that relatively few tree-lined streets are present. Nonetheless, there are approximately 30 parks nearby for residents to visit, such as Glen Rouge Campground and Bob Hunter Park, which makes them very easy to reach from a lot of locations within Dean Park.

Housing

In Dean Park, roughly 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This part of the city offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Around 70% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 30% are rented. This neighbourhood did not experience a single construction boom; the construction of new dwellings in Dean Park was spread throughout multiple decades in recent history.
