Galetta

The neighbourhood of Galetta can be found in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, which is located in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

Commuting by car is especially convenient in Galetta. Parking is easy. This part of the city is not very appropriate for biking because the cycling network is not very well-developed, and the area is not particularly flat. It is also very impractical for pedestrians to get around in this neighbourhood because almost no common errands can be run without having to use a vehicle.

Services

Galetta does not have any high schools or primary schools. Additionally, it can be very hard to get to daycares as a pedestrian. As far as eating is concerned, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed in Galetta to access the closest supermarket.

Character

Galetta is reasonably quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case close to one of the railway lines or Highway 417. Parks are distributed sporadically, which makes them very hard to reach. Despite that, there are over 50 green spaces close by for residents to explore.

Housing

Homeowners occupy nearly 90% of the units in the neighbourhood whereas the remainder are rented. The predominant housing types in this part of the city are single detached homes and townhouses. Around one third of properties in this area were constructed prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of Ottawa offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
