Carp

Carp is a neighbourhood within Ottawa, Ontario, which is situated in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

Carp is an extremely good part of Ottawa for travelling by car. It is very easy to park. Many of the homes for sale in this part of Ottawa are located in places that are not very conducive to walking as almost no common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. This area is also not very cycling-friendly since Carp has a quite poor bicycling infrastructure, and the topography is not particularly flat.

Services

Furthermore, it can be very difficult to get to daycares on foot. When it comes to food, in all cases, a vehicle is required in Carp to access the closest supermarket.

Character

Carp is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be reasonably calm - although that is not the case near Highway 7, Highway 417, the railway line or the airport (YRP). It is rather difficult to get to public green spaces from most locations in the neighbourhood since they are distributed sporadically. Despite that, there are a few parks close by for residents to explore.

Housing

In Carp, around three quarters of dwellings are single detached homes, whereas the rest are mainly townhouses. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 90% of the units in Carp whereas the rest are rented. The homes in this part of Ottawa are very modern, since about 55% of its dwellings were constructed after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.
