Transportation

People who want to reside in a compact community will be pleased with the rather pedestrian-friendly nature of this part of Oakville; running common errands is convenient without needing to use a vehicle. Bicycling is also convenient in this neighbourhood because the cycling network is reasonably good. Travelling by car is easy in this part of Oakville. It is convenient to park. However, this part of Oakville is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by approximately 10 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most homes.

Services

It is a reasonably short distance to reach schools and daycares from anywhere in River Oaks. Families have the choice between public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level. With respect to eating, getting to the nearest supermarket by foot is feasible for some, but not all, property owners in River Oaks. There are also a few opportunities for those who value restaurants and cafes in close proximity.

Character

River Oaks is a wonderful neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. Public green spaces, like Sixteen Mile Creek Trl. N. Umr and Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, are very well-spread out and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to relax in, which makes them very easy to reach from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood. This part of the town is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 45% of dwellings in River Oaks, while small apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Around 80% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the remainder are renters.
