Stamford

Situated in the St. Catharines - Niagara metropolitan area, Stamford is a neighbourhood within Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Transportation

Commuting by car is especially convenient in this area. Coming across a place to park is generally easy, and many houses for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway, such as Queen Elizabeth Way. However, Stamford is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there are approximately 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are ordinarily a short walk away. It is sometimes difficult for pedestrians to navigate Stamford since few daily errands can be run without needing to use a vehicle.

Services

Parents and their kids will find that no matter where their home is situated in this neighbourhood, primary schools and daycares are close by. However, there are only a limited number of high schools and consequently they can be a long walk away. As far as food is concerned, a fraction of residents in Stamford may have the option to do their grocery shopping on foot in one of approximately 10 stores, while others will have to use a vehicle. A small selection of restaurants and cafes is available as well.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced ambience will enjoy Stamford. This part of the city is quiet overall, as the streets are generally reasonably tranquil - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around the railway line, Queen Elizabeth Way or Highway 420. Finally, there are about 30 parks close by for residents to explore and they are very well-distributed, making it easy to reach them.

Housing

Most homes in Stamford were constructed between 1960 and 1980, during its biggest building boom. Single detached homes and row houses are the main housing type in this part of Niagara Falls. About 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are rented. This neighbourhood also has a variety of housing size options - although this area is notable for those looking for three bedroom homes.
