Victoria Square

The neighbourhood of Victoria Square can be found in the city of Markham, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Victoria Square is particularly car friendly. It is very easy to park, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 404, from anywhere in Victoria Square. In contrast, the transit service in this area is not very practical. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses. It is impractical for people walking to move around in Victoria Square because running common errands is challenging without needing a vehicle. On the other hand, the bicycle is a fairly good method of transportation in this part of Markham because the area is rather flat, and there are a fair number of bike lanes.

Services

Accessing the closest supermarket without a car is possible for some, but not all, property owners in this part of the city. A small variety of restaurants and cafes is available. With respect to education, it is a very short walk to get to primary schools from anywhere in this part of Markham. However, there are no high schools in Victoria Square.

Character

The character of Victoria Square is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This part of Markham is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around Highway 404. Finally, it is easy to get to green spaces since there are a few of them close by for residents to check out.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around 40% of dwellings in Victoria Square, and the rest are mainly townhouses. A majority of the housing growth in this part of the city has occurred after the year 2000. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 80% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas renters make up the remainder.
