Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Commerce Valley is a neighbourhood within Markham, Ontario.

Transportation

This part of Markham allows homeowners to travel using a diversity of methods of transportation. Travelling by public transit is easy in Commerce Valley. In particular, rapid transit stations, including Hwy 7 / Leslie, Hwy 7 / East Beaver Creek and Highway 7 / Chalmers Rd with access to the Viva Purple, are not very far from the greater part of houses in the neighbourhood. There are around 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. Property owners who appreciate being able to walk to everything will also welcome the pedestrian-friendly nature of Commerce Valley; meeting daily needs is easy without a car, and there are also a good number of businesses close by. Bicycling is convenient in this part of Markham since the bicycling network is fairly good.

Services

Parents and their kids will appreciate that wherever their house is situated in this part of Markham, schools and daycares are nearby. With respect to eating, in all but a few cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries. Nonetheless, reaching the nearest pharmacy and therefore some staple foods is usually especially easy. Commerce Valley is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat, and home buyers benefit from a few cafes as well.

Character

Commerce Valley offers a vast selection of green spaces to enjoy, despite its sometimes busy ambience. Public green spaces are especially well-situated and there are a few of them close by for residents to check out, making them easy to reach. Lastly, as there are few pedestrians, this part of Markham remains relatively quiet, although those who are near Highway 404 or Highway 407 may experience more noise.

A majority of the housing growth in Commerce Valley has occurred following the year 2000. The predominance of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of this part of the city is an important part of its character. About 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters. This part of Markham is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes.
