The neighbourhood of Cedar Wood is part of the city of Markham, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This area is a fairly pleasant part of Markham for pedestrians; many common errands can be run on foot. Cycling is also convenient in Cedar Wood. This neighbourhood is very car friendly. It is convenient to park, and it is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway from any home in Cedar Wood. However, travelling by transit can be at times difficult in this part of Markham by reason of the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses.

Services

The closest grocery store in this part of the city is usually only a short walk away. There are also a few choices for those who value restaurants and cafes in close proximity. In terms of education, parents and their kids will appreciate that no matter where their home is situated in this part of the city, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. However, daycares are not particularly plentiful and consequently not always within walking distance.

Character

Cedar Wood offers a slower-paced atmosphere and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time in green spaces. There is a good amount of greenery in this part of Markham as the tree canopy coverage for the majority of streets is reasonably good. Public green spaces are very well-spread out and there are a few of them close by for residents to discover, making them very easy to access. This area is quiet overall, as the streets are generally quite peaceful - although that is not the case around one of the railway lines.

Housing

In Cedar Wood, many dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the houses are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. This part of Markham also has quite a good variety of housing sizes - there is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of Markham. About 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. This part of the city experienced its most significant building boom after the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period.
