Victoria North

Victoria North is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario, which is located in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Victoria North is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to access a parking spot, and most homes for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 85. However, the transit system in this part of Kitchener is fairly poor. Nevertheless, homeowners benefit from a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally around the corner. Bicycling is difficult in Victoria North as the cycling infrastructure is not especially well-developed. Thankfully, there are a limited number of slopes, and biking is more feasible in some sectors than others. There are also relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this part of the city, although many daily errands can be run without a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Victoria North. In addition, families may find it difficult for their children to get to daycares as pedestrians. With respect to eating, it is very rarely feasible for home buyers in this area to shop for their groceries on foot. Nevertheless, getting to the nearest pharmacy and thus some staple foods is usually convenient. A small variety of restaurants and cafes is available as well.

Character

Victoria North offers an extensive selection of green spaces to enjoy. Public green spaces, like Stanley Park Optimist Natural Area, are very well-spread out and there are a few of them nearby for residents to explore, which makes it easy to get to them. Lastly, this part of the city can be relatively noisy, as traffic can occasionally be loud during busier hours of the day.

Housing

In Victoria North, about 45% of buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This area has a good variety of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 55% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas the remainder are occupied by owners. This neighbourhood experienced its largest building boom pre-1960, so most of the available homes are from this era.
