Situated within the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area, Southdale is a neighbourhood in Kitchener, Ontario.

Transportation

Southdale is a fairly pleasant part of Kitchener for pedestrians; carrying out day-to-day needs is easy without a car, and numerous businesses are close at hand. Bicycling is also convenient in this neighbourhood as the cycling network is good. Travelling by public transit is occasionally difficult in Southdale. Nonetheless, rapid transit stations, including Mill Station with access to the ION Light Rail, are typically relatively close by from the greater part of homes in the neighbourhood. Residents are served by a few bus lines, and it is very easy to get to a nearby bus stop from most properties. However, Southdale is very car friendly. It is easy to come across a parking spot, and the majority of properties for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 7 & 8.

Services

Families will find that no matter where their house is situated in Southdale, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. On the other hand, daycares are not very numerous and therefore tend to require a rather long stroll to get to. With regards to food, it is easy to access the nearest supermarket on foot from most properties for sale in Southdale. Additionally, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a good number of opportunities.

Character

Southdale is a great neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. There are approximately 10 public green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in, such as Lakeside Park Natural Area and Meinzinger Park, and they are especially well-spread out, which makes it very easy to get to them. This part of Kitchener is also very quiet, as the streets are very peaceful.

Housing

In Southdale, roughly half of dwellings are small apartment buildings, and the remainder are mainly single detached homes. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters while the remainder are occupied by owners.
