Southdale

Southdale is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario, which is situated in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

The bike is a good method of transportation in Southdale as the cycling network is fairly well-developed. Many of the houses for sale in this part of Kitchener are located in places that are also rather well-suited for pedestrians; carrying out day-to-day needs is easy without a vehicle, and a variety of businesses are close at hand. The transit network in this part of the city is not especially practical. Thankfully, the closest rapid transit station, including Mill Station on the ION Light Rail, is commonly within walking distance from most houses in the neighbourhood. There are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are generally very close by. In contrast, cars are a very good means of transportation in Southdale. Accessing a parking spot is quite easy, and nearby highways, such as Highway 7 & 8, are very easy to drive to from anywhere in Southdale.

Services

A supermarket is ordinarily reachable within a reasonably short walk from most properties for sale in Southdale. Likewise, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a good number of options. Regarding education, both primary and secondary schools are convenient to reach without a vehicle from anywhere in Southdale. In contrast, daycares are not especially numerous and accordingly tend to require a long distance to get to.

Character

The character of Southdale is exemplified by its relaxed environment. It is very easy to get to green spaces from numerous locations within the neighbourhood since there are around 10 of them close by for residents to enjoy. This neighbourhood is also wonderful for those who need quiet surroundings, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the main housing type, representing about half of dwellings in Southdale, but single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. About one third of properties in this area were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Renters occupy roughly two thirds of the dwellings in Southdale while the remainder are occupied by owners.
