Fairfield

The neighbourhood of Fairfield is part of the city of Kitchener, Ontario, which is situated in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Fairfield is conducive to pedestrians; running daily errands is convenient without a car, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. This part of the city is also amenable to bicycling because this part of Kitchener is home to reasonably good cycling infrastructure, and there are a limited number of slopes. Public transit users may experience limited options in Fairfield as a result of the service's low frequency. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and it is very easy to find a nearby bus stop from most homes. On the other hand, Fairfield is very car friendly. It is easy to access a parking spot, and many properties for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 85.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are convenient to access without needing a vehicle from most properties for sale in Fairfield. On the other hand, parents and their schoolchildren may consider it challenging to reach daycares by walking. As far as eating is concerned, accessing the nearest grocery store without the use of a vehicle is possible for some, but not all, house buyers in Fairfield. That being said, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner.

Character

People who prefer a relaxed atmosphere will enjoy Fairfield. This area is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour near Highway 85. Finally, it is very easy to access public green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to relax in.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around half of dwellings in Fairfield, and the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings. This area has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. This neighbourhood experienced its largest building boom before the 1960s, so most of the available homes are from this time period.
