Alpine is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario, which is located in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in Alpine. Accessing a place to park is quite easy, and the majority of houses for sale are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 7 & 8. On the other hand, residents using public transit may have few options in Alpine due to the infrequent service. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are commonly nearby. Biking is easy in Alpine because this area features a fairly good bicycling infrastructure. In contrast, walking in Alpine is not very popular, even though many day-to-day needs are convenient to carry out without having to use a car.

Services

The nearest grocery store in this neighbourhood is generally only a rather short walk away. There are also a few options for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes. With respect to education, in this area, parents and their kids will generally be able to reach primary schools by walking. In contrast, there are no high schools in Alpine.

Character

People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy Alpine. This neighbourhood is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially closer to one of the railway lines, Ottawa Street or Highway 7 & 8. Lastly, green spaces, such as Peter Hallman Ballyard / Activa Sportsplex and Peter Hallman Ballyard/Activa Sportsplex, are very well-situated and there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to relax in, resulting in them being very easy to reach from most locations in Alpine.

Housing

A majority of the housing growth in Alpine occurred in the 1960s and 1970s. In this part of Kitchener, roughly one quarter of buildings are small apartment buildings, and the remaining dwellings are mainly large apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses. The population residing in this neighbourhood is evenly split between owners and renters. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes.
