South Central

The neighbourhood of South Central is part of the city of Windsor, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Windsor metropolitan area.

Transportation

Travelling on foot is reasonably practical for home buyers in this area; many common errands can be run on foot, and numerous businesses are nearby. South Central is also quite suited for biking since there are few hills to confront cyclists, and this neighbourhood has a good bicycling infrastructure. Travelling by public transit is occasionally challenging in this neighbourhood. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually just around the corner. However, cars are a fairly good transportation option in this area. Parking is quite easy.

Services

Some, but not all, house buyers in this neighbourhood will live within walking distance of the closest grocery store. Residents benefit from approximately 10 restaurants and cafes as well. In terms of education, it is a rather short walk to reach daycares and schools from any location in this part of Windsor. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools.

Character

The character of South Central is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. Numerous locations in the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, such as Jackson, since there are a few of them close by for residents to check out. This area is quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home while owners make up the remainder. In this area, about 40% of buildings are single detached homes, whereas the rest are mainly large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings. This neighbourhood experienced its largest building boom pre-1960, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes.
