West Shore

West Shore is a neighbourhood within Pickering, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is especially car friendly. Finding a parking spot is generally easy, and many real estate listings are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 401. However, public transit riders may find limited options in West Shore by reason of the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. This part of Pickering is not particularly suitable for walking because running daily errands is sometimes challenging. Although some enjoyable areas for cycling exist, the bike is a somewhat poor means of transportation in West Shore since the cycling network is not very extensive, and there are a good number of hills to challenge cyclists.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are convenient to reach on foot from most homes for sale in this neighbourhood. In contrast, this part of the city does not have any high schools. Concerning eating, accessing the closest supermarket by walking is possible for some, but not all, house buyers in West Shore. Residents of West Shore can enjoy a few restaurants as well.

Character

The character of West Shore is exemplified by its relaxed environment. Although this area is not home to any public green spaces, parks aren't well-situated in nearby neighbourhoods, which makes it easy to reach them. This neighbourhood is also fairly good for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - however noise can be bothersome closer to one of the railway lines or Highway 401.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 70% of dwellings in West Shore, whereas the remainder are mainly duplexes. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 90% of the properties in West Shore and 10% are rented. This neighbourhood experienced its largest building boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available properties are from this time period.
