Victoria Square

Located within the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Victoria Square is a neighbourhood in Markham, Ontario.

Transportation

The preferred method to get around in Victoria Square is very often driving. It is especially convenient to come across a parking spot, and nearby highways, such as Highway 404, are very easy to access from anywhere in this part of the city. On the other hand, residents using public transit may find limited choices in this neighbourhood as a result of the low service level. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are commonly nearby. Even though there are few slopes to confront cyclists, Victoria Square is not especially suited for cycling as this part of the city has a sometimes poor bicycling infrastructure. A majority of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also not very suitable for those who travel by foot because very few daily errands can be run on foot.

Services

A fraction of residents in Victoria Square may be able to buy their groceries on foot, while others will have to use another means of transportation. Residents are served by a few restaurants and cafes. When it comes to education, primary schools are straightforward to reach on foot from most properties for sale in Victoria Square. On the other hand, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood.

Character

Victoria Square offers a calm ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Parks are very well-located and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, making it easy to access them. This part of Markham is also good for those who like quiet surroundings, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially around Highway 404.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing roughly 40% of buildings in Victoria Square, but townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are rented. This area experienced its main building boom following the year 2000, so most of the available housing is from this time period.
