Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Scarborough City Centre is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

Scarborough City Centre will appeal to house buyers that value a variety of modes of transportation. Travelling by public transit is very easy in this part of the city. There are approximately 20 bus lines, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. Scarborough City Centre is also a fairly pleasant part of Toronto for pedestrians; running daily errands is easy, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. The bicycle is a rather poor means of transportation in this neighbourhood because there are a fair number of slopes for cyclists to brave, and there are few bike lanes. Nevertheless, a few bicycling-friendly sectors exist.

Services

Daycares and schools are easy to walk to from most homes for sale in Scarborough City Centre. With regards to eating, it is typically an option for property owners in this part of the city to shop for general and specialty groceries on foot. Furthermore, there is often a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. It is also convenient to get to a number of clothing stores on foot.

Character

Scarborough City Centre offers a wide variety of green spaces to enjoy, despite its sometimes busy atmosphere. To be more precise, it is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood, since there are approximately 10 of them close by for residents to visit, including Frank Faubert Wood Lot. Despite the abundance of public green spaces, few tree-lined streets are around. Finally, due to the presence of few pedestrians, this area remains relatively quiet, although those who are around Highway 401 may experience higher levels of noise.

Housing

About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and one third are renters. In this part of the city, the overwhelming majority of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while townhouses are the main alternative in the housing stock. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has happened after the year 2000. This neighbourhood offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes.
