Rural Markham

Rural Markham is a neighbourhood within Markham, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Rural Markham is very car friendly. Parking is generally easy. On the other hand, public transit users may find very few options in Rural Markham due to the service's low frequency. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines. Travelling on foot is not very feasible for property owners in this area as running daily errands is challenging by walking. Even though certain enjoyable sectors for bicycling can be found, the bike is a sometimes poor mode of transportation in Rural Markham as the cycling network is not very well-developed, and there are a good number of elevation changes.

Services

House buyers in this neighbourhood usually have to use a vehicle to do grocery shopping. There are a few choices for those who value nearby restaurants. In terms of education, there are only a few primary schools in this neighbourhood and consequently they can be a long walk away. In addition, Rural Markham does not have any high schools. Likewise, parents and their schoolchildren may find it very hard to reach daycares on foot.

Character

The noise levels in Rural Markham are low, as the streets are reasonably peaceful - although that is not the case close to one of the railway lines or Highway 407. Green spaces are spread out sporadically, making them rather difficult to access. Despite that, there are over 50 parks nearby for residents to discover.

Housing

In Rural Markham, around two thirds of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the properties are mainly townhouses. This neighbourhood experienced its biggest construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available housing is from this era. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented.
