Old Oakville is a neighbourhood within Oakville, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

It is easy to travel by bicycle in Old Oakville. Most houses for sale in this part of the town are located in areas that are also reasonably suitable for walking; many daily errands can be run on foot, and there are also a good number of businesses in proximity. The favoured method of transportation in this part of the town is very often a car. The majority of real estate listings are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, and it is easy to park. In contrast, the public transit system in Old Oakville is not very practical. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is usually very close.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to get to daycares and schools from anywhere in Old Oakville. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools. As far as eating is concerned, some property owners in this neighbourhood may have the option to buy groceries by walking, while others will have to turn to another means of transportation. There are also around 30 restaurants and cafes in this part of the town.

Character

Old Oakville offers a slower-paced atmosphere and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Lastly, green spaces, such as Sixteen Mile Creek South Qew - 2, are very well-located and there are approximately 30 of them nearby for residents to discover, which makes it very easy to get to them.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly half of buildings in Old Oakville, and the remaining dwellings are mainly large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings. This neighbourhood has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters. About one third of properties in this part of the town were built prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
